Road To The Runway

Sooooo after my HUGE announcement yesterday, I wanted to drop by with a few more deets about this major time in my fashion journey. Today I had the privilege of being a part of the Fall Lookbook photo shoot for the designer of the show I am walking in. (Stay tuned for those deets later this week!)

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESWe had to show up to the shoot, hair and makeup ready. I personally do not mind this, especially when it comes to my natural curls. I always prefer to shape and mold those myself, y’all know I am the twist-out Queen. But I decided to book a MUA for this, because hello, Fashion Week. I wanted to look like myself but enhanced, and I was happy with the way the look turned out. Soft, natural and beat!

What I will say about the show I am in is that: it’s all inclusive. The line promotes body positivity for women of all shapes and sizes. There are models smaller than me, models my size, and plus sized models all walking in the show. No discrimination in this designer’s eyes, and that is exactly what the fashion industry needs! With that being said, I have to up my confidence levels before the runway show. I decided to start with today’s look, believe it or not, confidence is a major key in how you are able to pull off a look.

First of all, mixed prints are a no brainer for me. My eyes just gravitate towards prints and bright colors naturally! This is another lush and full Ankara skirt, with pockets!! But a bandeau top? I shy away from crops and such, because I am not at my ideal body goals, yet! But for the show, the designer has me in a crop top, so I said let’s go for it! Itty bitty titty committe and all, here we are, in a bandeau top!

Since the skirt is so full, and high waisted, the bandeau top is the perfect juxtaposition. The colors are in the same family, and I kept my shoes neutral with these brown high heeled sandals! I did not wear many accessories, so the colors can stand out on their own! And I rocked the hell out of this look, like no one’s business!

Be confident ladies, we are all beautiful.  As usual, stay chic!
