If you follow me on my other social media platforms, then you would have already seen my fun-filled weekend in New York City at the Circle of Sisters Expo held by WBLS at the Jacob Javits Center. I was chosen to be one of the models for a live demonstration on my hair with Camille Rose Naturals. Now truth be told, I have never used their products before, but being apart of the natural hair community, I saw the name floating around. Always one for expanding my wings, I was super nervous and excited for this opportunity.
The Circle of Sisters is about total wellness and bringing women together to uplift one another. All the women on the team were super friendly and the energy in the room was so positive. I love attending events like this, it reminds me why I blog, helping women feel their best will never get old.
So this is me in the chair about to start the demo. I had to show up with my hair freshly washed in its natural state. Your girl woke up at 530 that morning to prep this fro, my call time for the show was 930AM. Talk about grinding and hustling, okay! The stylist was celebrity hair artist Lachanda, she was so cool and did what is true to me, a twist out! I am the self-proclaimed twist-out Queen, I am not a fan of my wash and wear hair because of shrinkage. It does not give me life the way a twist out does, or maybe I haven’t found the right products for a wash and go, with my texture.
Let’s talk about this shine hunny. My twists were super juicy and plump, the sign of a bomb twist out in the making. I know when my hair loves a product and the Curlaide product that was used to install these twists melted right into my hair! I know you’re wondering about those laid edges, she used the Clay Edge Custard and got to work. These two products and the spritz to refresh the areas that were drying was all Lachanda used on my hair. I left with my hair in the twists because let’s be honest my hair needs a full 24 hours to dry, and there wasn’t a dryer on site, people were dying to see the results at the expo, that stood around to watch her work on my tresses.
Soooooo let’s talk results. I didn’t take the twists down until a couple days later, it was easy to just get up and go. The moisture in the curlaide lasted all the while too, I did not need to add any oil to my fingertips to take down the twists.
I mean the hair speaks for itself, look at the shine and definition. This is first-day hair and as the days go on it will get bigger and looser, and that’s the hair I live for! Camille Rose has a lifelong customer in me chile! I was gifted a few products that I can’t wait to try on my next wash day and really experience the line from wash all the way through styling! Stay tuned you know I will keep you posted.
