The Cut Life

Sooooooo I’ve been thinking about this for about a month now. Had a consultation with my stylist a few weeks ago, been sending my friends inspiration pictures, today I finally did it. I cut my hair into a tapered fro!

This month I will be turning 34, I wanted a new slate to start with. I’ve been getting tired of my hair as of late, and sometimes a new do, can give you the right boost. To me it’s just hair when treated properly, it will grow back better than before. To aid in getting my best fro back to health, I am on a no heat mission, the last time I heat styled my hair was in June.

Remember this blunt cut I did back then?

As you can see I’m feeling it already! They say when a woman cuts her hair, she will change her life. Well, I am hoping for an amazing year ahead. There is so much I thought I would have had by now, and that’s the thing about birthdays right, you start to reflect? I won’t get all fake deep on you, but is that the same for all of you?

I am super grateful for what I have, and nothing should be taken for granted. This year I also want to express more gratitude and do less complaining and comparing. I want to exude positive energy and only have people who are on the same page around me. We are the company that we keep!

So here’s to living my best damn life. Here’s to living in the moment. Here’s to looking good and feeling good. Here’s to embracing my new age, and not living in fear of getting older. (I know y’all see them grey hairs peeking through the fro.) Here’s to being happy!

Haircut by Kimberly Phillips of Salon K Hair Spa in Staten Island, NY. She has been doing my hair for over 8 years and she is the BOMB! This white lace dress was made in Nigeria, but I’ve linked a similar style here.

Thanks for reading this ramble, as always, stay chic!

Girl I’m going in to transition right now and I’m wondering if I should cut it all off and start fresh again. I’ve been natural since 2002. I want/need a new look. A new feel. A new me. #thinking
