Hi, my name is Karese and I am a lipstick addict. I have a cosmetic bag filled with just lip colors, I know it’s a problem. Yet, I am always buying more, from drugstore to department store and most recently online. Online is the riskiest because obviously you can’t swatch or try them on, alas I add to cart anyway.
I am here to share the lip colors that I will be rocking this fall season, even though I wear some of these colors all year round. In a piece I had written for The Maria Antionette, I stated that lipstick can enhance your mood, and of course your look. That’s exactly what it does for me. So let’s get into it:
For an everyday neutral lip, the mom on the go, a gloss is easiest for me. It’s easy to reapply and touch up and you don’t have to worry about feathering like lipsticks. I have been loving Rihanna’s Gloss Bomb, from her explosive Fenty Beauty line. Apply a nude lipliner for a more uniform color on your lips before applying the gloss, it’s thick but not too sticky, I love it!
When you are feeling golden, as you should feel most of the time, throw on a gold lippie. I received this Blk Opl one from my Sam Fine Masterclass giftbag, and have been wearing it ever since. By the way, please forgive the state of my eyebrows in this post, I am growing them out to achieve a more fuller brow. Starting from the bottom child.
A red lip is an all year round kind of lip for most women, I tend to like a deep red like this NARS lip pencil for fall though. Speaking of red lips, are we excited for the Stunna red lip that Rihanna is dropping next week? I just might get it, despite my makeup bag overflowing. Is there product junkie anonymous?
Though I love a good old nasty dark lip for fall, sometimes a nude matte lip calls me. I love this Coloured Raine color because it’s nude but it still pops against my skin tone. Take note that I am wearing the same neutral makeup look in all these photos, so these lip colors work no matter what. I couldn’t leave you without a purple option, it is my fave color after all. I first came across this color on Taraji P. Henson and was ecstatic when I was able to get my hands on it. Not to mention, the price point was super affordable, and the lipstick is vegan. I have a few lippies from The Lip Bar, that I wear all the time.
It’s not the first time I will feature this beautiful blue lipstick, and it won’t be the last. I’ve been a fan of this Kat Von D lippie for years now, it’s a staple in my bag. Her formula is super matte and does not budge. After eating and drinking, your lips will still be flawless.
Last but not least, a little chocolate never hurt anybody. I love this chocolate brown matte lip color from Colourpop. It is the ultimate fall shade and I was happy when I received it from my friend. This shade first came across my radar from beauty blogger Ambrosia Malbrough, she wears it all the time, and it looks equally as beautiful on her. Lip health is a major key to wearing all these lip colors and exposing your lips to all these drying formulas. It’s important to mask or exfoliate your lips often, especially in these drying colder temps. Equally as important is removing the colors and applying a nourishing balm to lips after long lipstick wear. I usually apply coconut or avocado oil to my makeup remover wipes to really get the color off, and lips won’t be too dry after constantly rubbing them to remove the lipsticks.
I hope this post inspired you to try new lip colors you may have been shying away from. Thanks so much for reading, as always, stay chic!
