So of course I will start this post with Rihanna. She was one of the highlights of the carpet, whether you liked her dress or hated it. But to me, why come to one of the biggest nights of fashion and be boring and not partake in the theme. “China: Through The Looking Glass”, Rihanna’s dress is Chinese couture and took two years to make by designer, Guo Pei! She was spot on with standing out, the theme and going balls to the wall with risks and edge!
Who doesn’t love Sarah Jessica Parker? She has wowed us with her style as our favorite writer on, “Sex And The City”, and she does the same in her real life. Enter her Met Gala 2015 look, to me another one who doesn’t take it too seriously and comes to have fun. Her dress was a collaboration with fashion retailer, H&M, made of all scrap pieces of fabric from their headquarters in Sweden. It’s to highlight their Eco-friendly CONSCIOUS line at their stores. Her amazing headpiece is Philip Treacy. Looks great, on theme, one of my faves from the night.
Our favorite little sister, is a fashion trendsetter in her own right. Solange looks beautiful to me in this piece by, Giles. The dress is modeled after the Chinese paper fans we all know so well. To me, this was a home-run! The blunt cut ponytail, minimal accessories and classic black Louboutin pumps, are perfect as not to distract from the piece!
Fan BingBing, come all the way through hunny! It was hard to find pictures of the actress without too many people in the background, but I hope you get the vibe of her look! I LOVED this look all the way around. Her look is by designer Christopher Bu, I’m already a sucker for sequins, so it wasn’t hard to convince me. This gold sequined dress would have been so plain if worn alone, but coupled with the dramatics of the fab cape over!!!! The detail and color of the cape sends the look to the top five of the night for me!
Lastly, we have the Looking Glass crew. I mean what is there to say about these three bootylicious babes! They are not afraid to show off their curves, and be daring. Many critics had a lot to say, but these women are entertainers. Well maybe not Kim K. West, but you catch my drift. They are allowed to walk on a red carpet in these handcrafted, barely there numbers by Versace and Givenchy. Yes they are all mothers, but that doesn’t mean they should shrivel up and die. To each their own, but they all looked great to me.
