Ankara is a vibrant cotton fabric, usually associated with Africa, (Click for further explanation)!! My inspiration for using this fabric comes from my husband who is Nigerian. Big up the Nigerian massive!

Now I will admit, when we first got married and the idea of wearing the “native” clothes came to me, I was resistant. However, over the years as I was able to come up with my own shapes and designs, I’ve dived all the way in and have a closet full of Ankara clothing.

This little number is really a crop top with the matching skirt. But to get a more church appropriate wear out of it, I tucked the top into the skirt, to give the illusion of a dress! This was custom made by a tailor in Nigeria!

I also have a pencil skirt, and high waisted pants in the same print to wear with the top, for more outfit options!

The wedges seen here, are old from ZARA!
