The Boys With The Pot

I am always looking for fun activities that I can do with the boys; things that will open their minds, and expose them to different things. It allows us great bonding time, and gets them off the devices in the house. There was a kids cooking class at the Staten Island Children’s Museum, and I decided this would be a great adventure. I usually allow them to help me with things on the baking side, like cupcakes, muffins, etc. Today would be a completely different ball game.

On the menu for this class: “Spooky Eyeball Tacos”. It’s super easy for kids to assemble when you want a quick meal. I appreciated the fact that the instructor was a licensed nutritionist. She gave the parents great tips on getting the kids involved in the kitchen, and tricking them into eating their veggies. (Blend veggies like carrots and add to pancake/waffle mix!)

Caleb & Joshua were able to cut up tomatoes, lettuce, and olives. While the meatballs were prepared by the instructor, they still felt like they were “cooking” because of the veggies, and the assembly. The boys had a great time, even though Joshua is not a fan of tacos. He’s definitely his father’s child!

The class was very engaging, informative and fun! I encourage you all to find a kids cooking class in your area, and let me know how your little ones enjoy it!
