Seven years ago today, I took the oath of marriage. We made it past the dreaded, “seven year itch!” As an ode to my wedding day, I am wearing a dress that resembles what I wore on August 10, 2009. My husband even asked, “Is that your wedding dress?” LOL!
I was twenty six years young when I got hitched. I was also pregnant with Caleb. I had NO idea what I was in for. There was so much happening at once for me.
No one tells you that this thing here is so much work. You have to put so much of yourself aside to account for being a unit with someone else. I had a lot of maturing to do.
I have grown as a woman, in confidence, in maturity, in love. Not sure if it was marriage or motherhood, or both. But I am so NOT that unsure 26 year old anymore. There’s a certain kind of swagger you develop, knowing you’ve found your person. Not saying most days you don’t want to strangle said person, but they’re yours for the keeping!
I can let myself go, be free. We all change as the years go by, hopefully you all are changing for the better together! I am not as selfish, not as stubborn, I have learned to bend when necessary. I have also learned to put my foot down when necessary! It’s all about compromise people.
Here’s to forever evolving and, forever love! It’s not easy, but it’s a fun ride none the less.
Congrats. Wishing you many more blessed years together. Your piece was well written and your pics tells the story.
