I haven’t shared a skincare routine post on the blog since 2017. A lot has changed in my procedure since then, so I am here to update you all! I get so many comments on my skin when I am bare faced on social media, so let’s get into it.
I will go through my entire process with you from masking to moisturizing. Masking is an important step to any facial routine, and if I’m being honest, I’ve been slacking. My favorite mask at the moment is the Purifying Pumpkin Pore Detox Mask & Scrub from Urban Skin Rx. I was introduced to this line via social media and figured it was something I should try. I picked up most of these products from Target.
First of all, this mask smells amazing. I’m a sucker for anything pumpkin spice in the cooler months, so this doesn’t bother me. Second, the mask applies warm to the touch of your face. It instantly makes me feel calm at the end of a stressful day. I usually leave it on for 15 minutes or so while I scroll through my phone.
This Even Tone Cleansing Bar, also from Urban Skin Rx, is hands down the life-changing product for my skin. I had two very stubborn marks left behind from two pimples last September. I bought this bar in October and by my birthday, those marks were gone! I kid you not, the tone of my skin has never been better, I’m on my second bar! (You can see the empty container above.) It comes with the loofah sponge to apply the product, which I usually apply in the shower, because I use it on my neck area as well.
A product that is fairly new to me is the Clear & Even Tone Clarifying Glycolic Pads. It is a gentle exfoliating pad that also improves the overall tone of your skin. They also brighten skin and prevents future breakouts. I can attest to my skin looking alive and not as dull. Even in the dead of winter, when my skin is the palest, I was confident going to work many days with no makeup on. I was always used to an exfoliating mask, never have I used an exfoliator like this before.
One thing that hasn’t changed since the last skincare routine, my toner. I am still a repeat buyer of the Thayer’s Witch Hazel Facial Mist. Toning will get rid of any last bit of dirt or residue left behind and hydrate the skin as well. I love the rose petal scent, but I’m not opposed to any other scent from this brand! Do you guys tone? So here is my secret weapon. The product behind my ultimate glow. The Urban Skin Rx, Even Tone Super Glow Serum. I use this serum every time I wash my face and moisturize. A little goes a long way, so I would say 5- 6 drops will get your entire face and neck covered. It’s said to reduce the appearance of aging and once again it supports even skin tone. Sunscreen has become an important part of my skincare routine. I do not want sun damage and although our melanin is a great asset, we still need to protect it. I was referred to this Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer by my dermatologist and have been using it since January. The previous moisturizer I had only had an SPF protection of 15, whereas this one has 50. I believe anything 35 and up is the best, but don’t quote me. It may look like it leaves a white residue, but after working it into the skin well, there is no problem. It also works well layered with the serum, and I apply my makeup with no issues!
The only thing I would say I am missing from this routine, and something I need desperately is a good eye cream. As you can see, I have under-eye bags and darkness, and that is why I wear concealer on most days.
