And it is the hardest thing I think I’ve ever decided to do. As many of you know, I am not super religious, but we did grow up and I was christened in a Catholic church. That being said, I try to give up something every year for Lent to practice discipline. Fun fact: I gave up meat for Lent in 2016, and I have been vegetarian ever since. I know the same can not be possible with shopping. Have you given up something for 40 days before? Let me know in the comments below!
According to Google:
Lent 2020 is a six-week period leading up to Easter. Lent begins 46 days before the Saturday of Easter weekend (Easter Sunday falls on Sunday, April 12, 2020), but is only observed Monday-Saturday each week because every Sunday is viewed as a celebration. Therefore, Lent is observed a total of 40 days.Feb 25, 2020
While I am not physically shopping for myself, I have given up clothes, shoes, sneakers, and makeup specifically. I have been adding stuff to a wishlist for when Lent is over. So let’s get into what I’ve been eyeing:
See the awesome paperbag pants I am wearing in the photos for this post? They are by a designer in LA that I love, Sonjia Williams of Something By Sonjia. Many of you may know her from Project Runway, that’s where I first became familiar with her. I also featured her on the blog, here and here. I know I am going to rock these pants in many different ways, so get used to seeing them, but the shorts are also calling my name. Picture them with crop tops and sandals all summer long!
The exaggerated shoulder pad look on a tee shirt is a huge trend for Spring. There is a waitlist I believe for the one from The Frankie Shop, that all the girls are wearing on Instagram. But I am in love with supporting people I actually have a connection with, so I am going to get Sonjia’s. The tee has her brand motto, “Dress It Up or Dress It Down”, which speaks to my entire aesthetic.
Speaking of dressing it down, we can not have a wishlist without a pair of sneakers on it! These sneakers are a collaboration with the Sacai fashion house and Nike. There have been a few colorways that released and I was unable to cop, this might be the same story. I am loving a clean, fresh, pair of all-white sneakers for Spring/Summer. Let’s see if the sneaker Gods smile on me!
The most expensive thing I have my eye on, the Chanel Dad sandals. I am usually not here for any type of ugly shoe, but for some reason, I can see myself rocking the hell outta these. The price point can not be justified in this here lifetime, but humor me. Picture it with slip dresses and moto jackets. With high-waisted trousers and tops. With baby doll and Ankara mini dresses. Can you see it? I may have to just get a pair of Birks and move along with this vision child, retail price $1500. 😫😫😫
Keep me in your prayers as I embark on this journey. Outfit featuring my Beyoncé Ivy Park x Adidas collection. Thanks so much for reading, as always, stay chic!
My prayers are with you! You can do it! I love those Chanel sandals and the Dress it up Tee! Great picks!
