Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and I hope all of you out there get to spend it with the wonderful Mothers in your lives. I never realized how much work it is being a Mom, until I had my own kids. This will be the second Mother’s Day without my Grandmother, while I know she’s in a better place, it will still be a gloomy day without her.
My Grandmother (PG) was the backbone of our family, and the biggest supporter of her Grandkids! It was her who helped me buy my first camcorder to pursue my media dreams in college. No questions asked, you need it, you get it! Let’s not forget about her cooking, she was well-known back home in Belize for her cooking at the restaurant she worked at! We looked forward to going over to her house all the time.
PG has also had a great impact on my style, she was the oversized blazer and hat Queen of the family! She was always well put together and aware of her dressing choices! I loved her for that.
She has made me the woman I am today, because of her love, sacrifice, advice, and nurturing. I hope she’s looking down and proud of the strides we all have made since she’s been gone. I am grateful that she was around long enough to meet my boys, and they still ask for her from time to time.
When you lose a loved one, it doesn’t matter how long they lived or if they were sick, the pain will still be there from the loss of their presence. Not being able to pick up the phone and hear their voice, not being able to hug them, not being able to just be near them. Yes, the memories will always be there, but it just gets harder around holidays like this. Cherish your loved ones, life is short and we need to fill the world with more LOVE!
So for all of us who are missing our Moms, Grandmothers, Aunts, or Sisters, I am praying for all of you this Mother’s Day, as they say It Is Well! Music helps me through everything in life, so I leave you with this song below:
