As I mentioned in my financial goals post, we are God willing going to Belize this Summer as a family. So I have been thinking heavily about the looks I will pack and the content I would like to create. But also about what I would like to do with the kids. I want to be a tourist in my country and go and see things the tourists see, so the kids can get the full scope of that side of their heritage. With this winter sucking the life out of me at the moment, I can’t help but dream of being in a warmer climate.
First up, let me preface this by saying, I know Belize is known for adventurous water sports and scuba diving. The barrier reef and the Blue Hole are huge attractions for tourism, but we can’t swim. NONE of us can, so none of those types of adventures are on my list. I am
The Belize Zoo. The boys love animals, and the zoo in Belize has over 175 animals that are native to the country. It is also spread over 29 acres of tropical savanna and features so many species I’m sure we have never seen before. While it will be a good time, we have to throw some education and learning up in the mix. And I also have never been to the zoo so it will be an experience for me.
Mayan Ruins- Xunantunich. There are a few different historical Mayan sites across the country, but I think Xunantunich will be the closest to where we may be staying, and I like the name. LOL! The name actually means, “sculpture of lady” or “the stone woman”. There is so much history in all of the Mayan sites that I don’t know much about and I’m excited to dwell in the possible spiritual awakening that may happen in the midst of it all. This is more for me than the kids, but I’ll drag them along anyway.
Visit Family. There will obviously have to be time carved out to visit family. With both my parents being from Belize, the roots run deep. While we grew up in America, with a tight-knit closeness to my Mom’s side of the family, a great majority of my Dad’s side of the family remains in Belize. Personally, I haven’t been back to Belize since 1997. SOOOOOO, there are visits that are long overdue, to say the least. And now I’m coming back with two kids and a
Beach Time & Relaxation. Of course, I will not make this entire trip a history lesson and adventure driven. I am looking forward to relaxing on the beach and eating the freshest of fish and tanning. I am prepared to come back a few pounds heavier because Belizean cuisine can be heavily corn-based and fried, but it is
The amazing skirt I am wearing in this post is from a female-owned business that I have mentioned before, Trendy Chix Boutique, isn’t she lovely? If the dancing girl emoji wore blue, she may look like this. I will definitely be taking this one on my trip, with a crop top bralette for a dinner on the beach moment!
Let me know if you all have any trips planned this year, I would love to hear all about them below!
Omg! Not only is this look screaming vacay goals but this post makes me want to book a trip ASAP. I’m adding Belize to my travel wish list. I can’t wait to see the pics from your trip. I know y’all will have a blast!

Thanks so much. I can’t wait to see how the boys will react to it all!
Love this! Love the look! The boys will enjoy I’m sure. FYI remember Altun Ha in the Belize District. Also regarding snorkeling, I’m not a swimmer either but I went with Josh (he swims) and you can use life vests. They tied me to the boat :). Shark ray alley is shallow and the guides help you pet the rays and the nurse sharks are freely swimming around you.
