You should already know I am the twist-out Queen from my hair maintenance video. I wash my hair weekly, twist it up, take it down, repeat. I usually get asked what products I use, I mean women stop me in the streets and ask me. Today I will share my top 5 twist-out products for 2017.
Trust be told, I can get definition with just about any product. But the key to an amazing twist-out for me is shine, hold, and moisture. If my twists are plump and juicy, I know my hair will come out amazing. Even better if the curls can last me a full week or more when I am feeling lazy.
First up, FORM Beauty Twist Styling Creme. I am a brand ambassador for the company, but even if I weren’t, I would still recommend this product. My twist outs have been thriving with this creme, it provides a slight hold, and definition is through the roof. Be sure to use my code for a discount: formbeauty.com/thechicway
I had the pleasure of working the Camille Rose booth at the 2017 Circle of Sisters Expo, catch that post here. The stylist on hand that day twisted my damp hair with this product and my results were INSANE. The Curlaide is a moisture butter, a little goes a long way and the shine it provides wins me over every time I use it. Peep the before and after results below:
Next up Jane Carter Solution. I was introduced to her Nourish & Shine product by my hairstylist Kim years ago. I bought this curl cocktail product when Rite Aid had a sale on them over the summer. I absolutely loooooove this product. It really is supposed to be for wash and wear styles, but it twists my hair with no problem.
The curl cocktail has the winning trifecta I look for and a bonus that I loved: it provides voluminous hair on day one, as seen above. This kind of volume usually comes around day 2-3, but when I took down my Jane Carter twist-out I was left with this defined, fluffy fro.
Are we still fighting with Shea Moisture? I still have so many products from them in my stash that I have to finish. I have been an avid Shea Moisture fan for years, I am always tweeting, snapping and sharing their sales when I come across them. I first started using their JBCO because I tend to have dry scalp, and I fell in love with it. This leave-in conditioner I use as my twist out creme and the results are BOMB. This product is not just for naturals either, so if you need a conditioner for heat styled or relaxed hair, this may be it.
Last but not least, the most affordable of the bunch, Cantu Coconut Curling Cream. This product gives me great definition but it can tend to lack in the shine department. To combat that problem, I have to add oil to my twists before bed, and once again while taking them down. For about $7 though, it gets the twist out job done.
What are your fave hair products this year? Have you tried any of these, drop a line below to let me know. I have my eye on the Mielle Organics new twist-out line, but I can’t justify buying it until I am done with the products I have now. LOL! Thanks for reading, as always, stay chic!
