Stay Golden

You ever feel like the world is falling apart, and you don’t know what to do? With the recent terror attack in New York and the rumors of an EMP, my head is going to explode. I can blame this on a certain head of an office, but I won’t get involved with politics here, it’s toooooooo much! What do you do when anxiety is trying to take over your life? I’ll share some of my tips with you today!

Indulge in a little or a lot of self-care. I used to resort to drinking wine, but body goals have steered me in a different direction. ( I only drink when I am out socially now.) Instead, I like to hop in the tub with a bath bomb, do a mask, wash my hair, exfoliate. Anything that will make you love up on yourself more and think less. Do that. Cleaning is also a huge stress reliever for me, I will throw on a playlist, and clean my entire house. When I’m done, I will light ALL the candles and relax. Something about the squeaky clean space and the smell of Lysol makes my mind clear!

I have recently started journaling again. Writing down exactly how you feel, especially when it’s hard to discuss out loud, has been super beneficial to me. Being a Scorpio, I don’t give too much to too many people, when it comes to my emotions, so writing is my escape. In the same breath, I will write a gratitude list on the back of the day’s journal entry. Five things I am grateful for, to put some things in perspective! There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for!

Dress up and show out. We can not live our lives in fear, so as hard as it may be, carry on. Throw on some lipstick and a tee shirt with a positive affirmation and WERK! I have had this Paul Smith skirt since college when I worked there part-time to pay for school. You know I did a little dance when I put it on and it still fit, GIRLLLLL you can’t tell me anything.

The tee shirt was a recent gift from my boo Cris, and it really is what I aspire to be in life. Golden, 24/7, 365! Life is too short to be anything else. Let’s be honest Sophia Petrillo is goals af. I am still into dressing up tees and crewnecks/sweatshirts, the juxtaposition of this tee with this pencil skirt speaks to me.I wish all of you a happy and fruitful November. Here’s to living and loving our best lives! As always, stay chic!

Please drop a line with your quick self-care tips below, would love to read and implement them into my routine!

This post was so timely… When I am feeling very overwhelmed I generally plan a trip yes def not a short term fix BUT it gives me something to look forward to.

However on the days when I need a quick fix here are some things I do:

    1. Send out cards, (I have a box of cards on stand by for every occasion) birthday anniversary thank you etc…. Mail is a lost art! It’s a reminder of all the people in my life that I am thankful for AND folks are always extra surprised and appreciative to get a hand addressed card in the mail.

    2. Date Night for 1! Yesterday I took myself to get a massage and facial, had a lovely lunch at Maribelle’s a restaurant Oprah has endorsed and then took a walk around the city.

    3. Meal Prep, as much as I hate it. I love being able to reach in the fridge or freezer and grab something that is healthy, ready to eat and won’t make me feel guilty.
