Grateful At The Globetrotters Game

Today is December 26th, my son Caleb’s 8th birthday was on 12/17. I had to work, I had a bad dose of mother’s guilt. But in reality, we have to work to take care of the children. Luckily, I have an amazingly understanding son. When I miss the actual birthday, I always have a backup plan to make it up to them.

Today was opening day of the Harlem Globetrotters 2018 World Tour, where they will be visiting 300 cities. I was lucky to score tickets to the game and blessed with amazing seats, thanks to my good girlfriend’s contact! So this got me to thinking how grateful I am for friends who make things like this happen for my kids. There are a few lessons here for the boys as well.

Number one: they are eight and six years old at a professional basketball game. I didn’t attend an NBA game until I started working in television when I was 23. I am sure this is something kids their age would love to experience. Number two: of all my years, attending concerts, I have never been in the fourth row of any venue, hellllerrrrrr. Pro game and fourth row, I am adding up the Mommy brownie points people.

Kids will always like toys and material things, but time spent with family is something that has always been a priority for me. There are many people out there who do not have the support I have. When I wasn’t with Caleb on his birthday, my siblings and Mom took him to his favorite arcade and got him a cake. When I have to work weekends, I have in-laws and parents who take the kids for me. When I can’t get tickets to an event, I have amazing friends who can lend a helping hand. I am writing this with a heart that is so full, because I know the boys had an amazing time and will remember this forever. Harlem Globetrotters At Barclays CenterHarlem Globetrotters At Barclays CenterHarlem Globetrotters At Barclays CenterIf you don’t know much about the Globetrotters, they are a team known for their amazing acrobatics and tricks. They had the crowd going with their comedy, dancing, and slam dunks. I was also pleased to see two women on the team, who held themselves well with the men. The Globetrotters are also very crowd friendly; many kids from the audience were able to take part in the festivities. The players frequently came out into the stands to give high-fives and dance with the audience. The energy is definitely high, even though our 2:00PM game was not packed to capacity. Harlem Globetrotters At Barclays CenterHarlem Globetrotters At Barclays CenterTo top it all off, the boys were able to get an official Harlem Globetrotters ball signed by two of the players! I have to get one of those glass boxes to store it in!

One day they’ll be in the audience for Steph Curry and Lebron James, their favorite players at the moment! Thanks so much for reading, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Stay Chic….and humble.
