An Evening Affair

Wedding season is upon us. It’s time to break out the formal fashion, and celebrate the gift of love. I am going to walk you through how I get ready for an evening affair!

First things first, the dress! And oh what a dress she is. The minute I get invited to something of this caliber, I take it as a time for me to step out of my usual self. I’m talking really going the extra mile, and playing dress up. Once I laid eyes on this Hot Pink Angelina Dress, from the Brown Sugar Collection, I knew she had to be mine. The color is beautiful, but the details are GORGEOUS!! I am a sucker for a statement piece or statement details!

The dress is scuba material, so very form fitting to the body. I stayed away from carbs for weeks to avoid the lower stomach bloat, because everything can be seen in a dress like this! (I’m currently devouring a slice of pizza as I type this!) It has a high mock neck, and an open back, with the gorgeous cascading ruffle on the side! The ruffle is what sold me on this dress, and of course being the #budgetnista that I am, the price wasn’t too bad either!

After I knew the dress was mine, hair was next on my agenda. I knew I wanted a sleek look, my curls/afro would compete with the waves on the dress. I usually straighten my hair about once a year, so here was my chance! I went to my stylist and discussed a blunt cut, inspired by fashion designer Shateria Moragne (see below). When my stylist Kimberly said that it could be done, we got to cutting! Look at those clean lines, I’m beyond pleased and happy that I did it right before Summer!

Top off the look with killer heels and an evening clutch. The heels are my favorite holographic evening sandals from Brian Atwood. It’s good to invest in quality shoes. Shoes that are timeless and can be worn over and over again, will give you your money’s worth. You’ve seen these heels plenty of times on 3TheChicWay and I’m sure i’ll be wearing them for years to come. My DarasFashions clutch played off of the shoes, while adding a bit more glam to the look. I’m a sucker for sparkly things as well!

The dress is sold out in pink, but black is still available! Thanks for all the love on this one. As always, Stay Chic!
